Marketing with Purpose: Victoria Digital Marketing

In a digital world full of noise, Victoria Digital Marketing (VDM) is carving out a quieter, more meaningful path - one rooted in relationships, trust, and community.

Victoria BC marketing

Founded in Victoria and proudly local-first, VDM is a boutique agency that helps service-based businesses and nonprofits across Greater Victoria grow their online presence through websites, Google Ads, SEO, and community-driven content. But behind the services lies a deeper mission: to support and uplift the businesses that make our region thrive.

“We believe in marketing that reflects who you are, where you are, and the people you serve,” says Jessy Savage, founder and owner. “That’s why everything we do – from Google campaigns to websites to graphic design – is built in collaboration with the community around us.”

Small Team, Big Heart

The agency’s core team includes Savage, a web designer, a paid advertising strategist, and a summer intern from Camosun College. Together, they operate with an intentionally lean structure that allows for personal connection, fast turnarounds, and local adaptability.

This summer, VDM is launching a Community Spotlight Series – a free storytelling campaign designed to celebrate local businesses through short videos, behind-the-scenes Reels, and mini-features posted across VDM’s social channels. The series will be led by their summer intern, who is gaining real-world experience while contributing to the visibility of small businesses across Greater Victoria.

“It’s a win-win,” says Savage. “Our intern is building a portfolio and making real connections, while featured businesses get high-quality content and social amplification at no cost.”

The campaign aligns with VDM’s long-held belief in collaboration over competition – a belief that also fuels their ongoing partnerships with local champions like Think Local First, the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, Better Print, and the Victoria Royals’ Keys to the City program.

Marketing for a Cause

One of VDM’s most meaningful collaborations this year is their marketing partnership with SoberFest – a local music festival fundraiser that supports addiction recovery services. From vendor outreach and social media content to Google Ads and artist promotions, VDM is supporting SoberFest’s goal of building a stronger, more inclusive community through sober celebration.

“SoberFest represents the kind of work we want to do more of – purpose-driven, grassroots, and powered by people who care,” says Savage.

The agency also continues to offer discounted rates and pro bono strategy sessions to nonprofits, charities, and businesses-in-need through their internal sponsorship program.

Mentorship in Action

Community support isn’t limited to clients. As part of VDM’s broader impact work, Savage also provides mentorship to recent graduates and emerging creatives in the region. From resume reviews and LinkedIn tips to strategy sessions and agency Q&As, she’s helping the next generation of marketers gain clarity, confidence, and connection.

“I’ve had a number of young people reach out – some straight out of high school, some graduating from university – all trying to figure out where they fit in the creative industry,” she says. “What they really want is someone to be honest with them, show them what agency life looks like, and help them understand what their skills are worth.”

In addition to offering 1:1 support, Savage has started hosting free career-building workshops throughout the year on topics like “Breaking into the Marketing Industry,” scheduled for later this month.

The long-term goal? To help shape a more ethical, human-centered industry – one that recognizes collaboration, not hustle, as the true engine of growth. Attendees get to access the VDM mentorship Slack channel where they can share resources amongst themselves, share job listings, and receive ongoing advice and mentorship from the VDM team.

“Marketing isn’t just about making things look good – it’s about making things work,” says Savage. “It can be tough to break in as a junior, but when you lead with curiosity, care, and purpose, you’ll find your place. That’s how we build better businesses – and a more connected community.”
