A New CEO Appointed For Tourism Vancouver Island, a Local Businessman Remembered and Ongoing Construction at the Summit

Tourism Vancouver Island has announced its new CEO

Tourism Vancouver Island has appointed Anthony Everett as its new CEO. Everett succeeds Dave Petryk, who has retired after leading the tourism association for 17 years. Everett has been in the tourism industry for over 30 years, working for The Butchart Gardens, Tourism Victoria and the Northern British Columbia Tourism Association.

Construction continues on the Summit at Quadra Village

According to the Capital Region District website, the Summit at Quadra Village project has been under construction for 16 months now and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019. This is a 320-bed seniors’ facility, which will house seniors who have complex-care needs. Last month, the complex foundation systems for the building were completed. The project is now moving forward with the concrete parkade and superstructure.

Chateau Victoria owner Clive Piercy remembered as a generous supporter of the community

Clive Piercy died on October 17 and left behind a legacy. Piercy was a prominent local businessperson, responsible for developing up to 40 buildings — the most prominent one being the Chateau Victoria. Piercy was also a generous benefactor, supporting local organizations including the Pacific Opera Victoria and the Victoria Symphony, as well as charities that support cancer research and AIDS research.
