An event for new small business owners takes place tomorrow
The City of Victoria’s Small Business Provider Information Session is at City Hall tomorrow, October 25. The free event is a chance to learn about the various resources available to help you start your business, regardless of what stage your business is at. As well as a chance to learn and network, the event includes a welcome message from Mayor Lisa Helps and presentations from partners including Vancity, City of Victoria, Island Health and others. Pre-registration is required.
Get a visual representation of Victoria’s transit routes
Anyone who takes public transit will be interested in local graphic designer Owen Lett’s new project. Lett has highlighted Greater Victoria’s 49 fixed-route bus services and their frequency in a simple, easy-to-read map. Three years in the making, Lett released the first draft of this map a few days ago. More information on Lett’s work can be found on owenlett.com.
The 11th Annual Vancouver Island Economic Summit kicks off tomorrow
This year’s “State of the Island” Economic Summit runs Wednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo. The summit’s breakfast keynote speaker on Thursday is Peter Yanev of EQE Consulting and author of Peace of Mind in Earthquake Country, who will speak to earthquake risk management based on recent damage assessment in Mexico.
