Trailblazer in the healthy, organic foods and products celebrates 20 years.
It has been 20 years since Lorraine Peterson decided her new store, Lifestyle Markets, would incorporate the largest selection of organic and local foods, with a complete range of nutritional supplements and vitamins and a natural foods deli. The first and only full service market-style store opened on Douglas Street in 1995 with only a handful of employees.
Growing Organically
Lifestyle Markets has grown to become a part of Victoria’s community and is the go-to place for customers who want to take care of themselves: the answer to the search for more information and products that will help them get healthy and stay healthy.
In 1996, a second location opened in Sidney and in 2001 a third store was established in Cook Street Village. Over the past 20 years their reputation has grown along with their product line and staff. In addition to the three Victoria area stores there is now a busy online store. The development of a new website in 2012 has allowed Lifestyle Markets to showcase their huge range of organic foods, vitamins and supplements and is an extension of the knowledgeable sales staff and customer service you’ve come to expect.
Making a Difference for Customers
Today, Lifestyle Markets is proud of their larger selection of foods and supplements, extensive body care section, terrific staff, home delivery and great customer service. The reason they opened is still the primary motivator: to bring people the best selection of organic and local food, vitamins and body care products under one roof, with a store culture of knowledgeable people that make a huge difference for thousands of customers.
“Our culture feeds on our customers and our team being treated with respect,” says Lorraine. “We are dedicated to our customers and stand behind the products we carry. Organic and natural – this is all that we do and ever have done.”
A Team That Cares
General Manager Carmine Sparanese helped to build the store in early 1995 and credits Lorraine as “my leader and close friend throughout the 20 years.” He acknowledges the “amazing people running each department in our large store, store managers and their crews at Cook Street and Sidney.”
Lifestyle’s team helps customers to feel as though they are under an umbrella of care and understanding when shopping at Lifestyle Markets. The stores cater to the needs of many diverse
customers including the elderly, young, families and those with specific dietary needs.
Lifestyle Markets continues to be a proud supporter of many community organizations such as the Victoria Humane Society and The Mustard Seed, combined with their awareness-raising events and local work. It’s their way of giving back to the community that has supported them over two successful decades.
Celebrating 20 Years in 20 Days
To share their pride in reaching 20 years at the Douglas Street location, Lifestyle Markets is planning some fun celebrations. For 20 days, beginning September 25, there will be in-store giveaways, product demonstrations, samplings and community involvement.
