CREST Moving Ahead with New Technology

(News Release) VICTORIA — CREST board chair Gordie Logan reported at the annual general meeting “that CREST has made a significant stride forward on implementing its plan to upgrade CREST’s technology.”
General Manager Gord Horth reported to shareholders that they were successful in acquiring new frequencies from Industry Canada last year. “This will support implementing our plan, and we will continue our efforts to secure more,” said Horth.
Fifty organizations providing safety services and emergency response in the Capital Region use the CREST system for radio communications. Logan told shareholders, “the system upgrade will improve reliability, coverage and audio quality for the 2500 men and women who rely on their CREST radios.”
Shareholders elected the following directors to the board for a one-year term: Brian Anderson (BC Transit), Niall Paltiel (Central Saanich), Gordie Logan (Colwood), Jeri Grant (Juan de Fuca), Elizabeth Zook (Salt Spring Island), Rob Reeleder (Southern Gulf Islands), Karen Whitson (Emergency Health Services Commission), Tim Morrison (Esquimalt), Karel Roessingh (Highlands), Lillian Szpak (Langford), Kyara Kahakauwila (Metchosin), Jack Thornburgh (North Saanich), Eric Zhelka (Oak Bay), Sandra Sajko (Province of BC), Leif Wergeland (Saanich), Tim Chad (Sidney), Kerrie Reay (Sooke), Margaret Lucas (Victoria), and Heidi Rast (View Royal). Additionally, Tim Morrison (Esquimalt) was elected Vice Chair.
