Abstract Wins National Award

Victoria-based Abstract Developments was recognized this week with a Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) SAM award in the Single Attached Home category for Terra Verde, a townhome project in Fairfield.

The award was presented at the CHBC national conference in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, on March 17.

Terra Verde (Italian for “Green Earth”) is a 16-unit, executive-style townhome development in Victoria’s Fairfield neighbourhood. Terra Verde features a west coast contemporary design configured with three bedrooms or two bedrooms plus media room. The homes feature open-concept designs, private green spaces, over-height ceilings, gourmet kitchens, and gas fireplaces. Each townhome also includes a secure underground double car garage.

“The Abstract team is proud to be awarded this National Building Award,” says president Mike Miller. “Projects from across the country were finalists for the award and we feel honoured to be recognized. We are fortunate to be in a community that supports these kinds of quality projects.”

Now in his 13th year of building homes, Miller has designed and built over 50 homes in Victoria. He has received more than 30 Gold home building awards in regional, provincial, and national categories, and has been touted by Architectural Digest Magazine as one of his industry’s “most accomplished practitioners.”

In addition to the recent SAM award win, Abstract’s Terra Verde project has received silver awards as a finalist for Best Townhouse Development at the 2011 Vancouver Island Care Awards and at the 2011 Georgie Awards in Vancouver.

The SAM Awards honour outstanding performance by Canada’s new home builders, renovators, and residential developers, recognizing excellence in new homes and renovation design and construction; distinctive community development; innovative technology and construction techniques, and exceptional marketing and sales across Canada. The theme for the 2011 awards was “Create and Transform.”
