DoubleTree Employee Lends Helping Hand (and His Golf Clubs) to Make Customer Happy

Francois Courbon of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is the latest recipient of the Victoria Hospitality Award, which recognizes those in the local hospitality sector who go the extra mile in customer service. Courbin was nominated visitor Nizar Paniwani, who wrote:  

“I [was] visiting here from Dallas, Texas and wanted to play golf while my wife was taking care of business, but I couldn’t get golf club rentals. Francois offered to bring in his clubs and to let me play with them. It was really sweet of him and generous to let me borrow them. He brought in his clubs and helped me book a tee time so I could enjoy golf and have fun. I am really grateful and very touched by his gesture.”

Victoria Hospitality Award winners are presented with a signed award program certificate, a letter of commendation, a City of Victoria pin engraved with the winner’s name, and numerous other gifts from committee members representing various sectors of the community.

The not-for-profit Victoria Hospitality Award Society, which defines outstanding hospitality as “a random act of kindness that goes over and above the expected to meet the needs of an individual,” also hosts a special event annually to honour all nominees and monthly winners. Nomination ballots can be found online via Tourism Victoria and at Victoria Hospitality Awards Society.
