The Capital Regional District (CRD) has two new tenants in one of two properties they own at 808 and 836 Viewfield Road.
The leased building, located at 808 Viewfield Road, has tenants that fill two of the three delineated spaces. Spinnakers, Canada’s first purpose-built gastro brewpub, will occupy about 20,000 square feet and Victoria Trampoline will be building an almost 20,000 square foot indoor trampoline park that will include slam dunk trampolines, trampoline dodgeball courts, foam pits, a rope swing and three Olympic-level trampolines.
Each lot at Viewfield has similar sized warehouse buildings that together total 11,744 m2 or 126,291 square feet. These new agreements result in about 1/3 of the space being leased and provide funding to cover the temporary loan interest and building insurance. The buildings continue to be listed for sale as additional lease agreements are being actively negotiated.
The Viewfield properties were initially purchased to provide the public with an alternative biosolids processing site to Hartland. Following an intensive public consultation process, Viewfield was removed as a potential site for consideration.
On September 30, 2014, the CRD took possession of the Viewfield properties and immediately rented the space for one year to Wilson Foods. To assist in finding new tenants, the commercial real estate firm CBRE Limited (CBRE) was contracted to market the warehouse space for sale or lease and the buildings have been partially occupied since Wilson Foods vacated in October 2015.
