BBB Honours 50 Years of Accreditation

(News Release) VICTORIA — The Better Business Bureau of Vancouver Island will dedicate a portion of the 2012 Torch Awards and anniversary celebration to a special recognition ceremony honouring businesses that have been accredited for 50 years (since the BBB opened in 1962).
“These nine businesses have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to building an ethical marketplace on Vancouver Island,” says Rosalind Scott, executive director of BBB Vancouver Island.
“These companies essentially founded the BBB of Vancouver Island and their owners have made it a lifelong objective to build relationships based on trust within their community. We are so proud and honoured to be able to celebrate the BBB’s Golden Jubilee along side these businesses.”
The following businesses will be honoured for being BBB accredited for 50 years:

- McCall Bros Funeral Directors Ltd.
- Lunds Auctioneers & Appraisers Ltd.
- Island Asphalt Compan
- Hourigan’s Carpet & Linos
- Greaves Moving & Storage Ltd.
- Stocker’s Security Storage & Warehouse Ltd.
- E H Emery Electric Ltd
- Dave Wheaton Chevrolet Buick Cadillac GMC
Tickets are on sale now for the 2012 Torch Awards.
“At this year’s Torch Awards celebration, you won’t just be a guest attending an event … you will become an interactive part of the experience,” says Scott.
“In celebration of 2012 being the BBB’s 50th anniversary locally and 100th anniversary internationally, we’ve decided to take the BBB’s annual Torch Awards celebration to a whole other level.”
