RRU Gets Top Marks in National Survey

Feb 16, 2012

(News Release) VICTORIA — MacLean’s magazine has once again ranked Royal Roads University first among Canadian public universities in the areas of “level of academic challenge” and “active and collaborative learning.”

MacLean’s ranked 62 Canadian universities based on the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) results. According to the NSSE results, Royal Roads University ranked first among public universities and second overall in the two categories.

Royal Roads also ranked first in the same two categories in Maclean’s 2010 ranking.

“Our university continues to distinguish itself in a very strong field of Canadian post secondary institutions,” says Allan Cahoon, president and vice-chancellor of Royal Roads University. “The quality of our educational model and student experience is the bedrock of our success. With 17,000 graduates in over 60 countries around the world, our team-based, applied and experiential model has proven to be very successful.”

In the 2011 survey, students were asked to evaluate their entire educational experience. Eighty-four per cent rated their experience at Royal Roads as either excellent or good – an increase over its last survey and 12th overall in the pool of institutions.

Royal Roads students also ranked the university 11th overall when asked if they would take their education again at the same institution.
