Tom Harris Cellular Acquires TAC Mobility
Dec 06, 2011
(News Release) VICTORIA — Victoria-based Tom Harris Cellular has acquired TAC Mobility in support of its ongoing expansion in Western Canada.
With the new acquisition, Tom Harris will be the largest authorized TELUS dealer in Canada, with more than 50 years of combined experience in wireless communications. The combined entity will boast over 300 employees and 48 stores across B.C. and Alberta, with more store openings and training facilities planned in 2012.
As part of the growth strategy, Tom Harris Cellular will place an increased emphasis on servicing the small and medium business market, which has grown consistently for the company over the past 25 years — taking its award-winning customer service to customers on-site, as well as offering 48 retail locations in ten markets in Western Canada. The company will also open a new training centre for business customers in the first quarter of 2012.
The larger business-to-business team will:
- Provide on-site service, based on customer needs
- Deliver quality training on a wide array of wireless products and services
- Help ensure maximum up-time for customers providing support and ensuring that products meet customer needs
- Deliver increased capacity for hands-on training at the new Fort Street training centre – opening in 2012.
“The acquisition and change in model to service customers at their locations represents a significant shift in the way in which we do business," says president and CEO Tom Harris. "Simply put, customer needs have changed. The new business model allows us to help customers get the most out of their wireless technologies, while minimizing downtime. It’s a natural extension of our customer service philosophy.”
The acquisition of TAC Mobility closed Dec. 1.
