David Cheperdak, CEO of the Broadmead Care Society, is pleased to announce that Jennifer Jasechko has accepted the position of chief development officer for the society effective April 2.
Her role includes fundraising, communications, and major gift campaign planning for veterans and seniors at the Lodge at Broadmead and the Veterans Health Centre, and for 40 adults with physical disabilities at Nigel and Harriet House.
Jasechko was one of the first fundraisers on Vancouver Island to receive the Certified Fund Raising Executive designation. She has helped raised millions of dollars for Vancouver Island charities, most recently for Jeneece Place. She is the past president of the local chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association of Vancouver Island Fund Raisers. She is a founding board member of the local roundtable for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP). Jasechko has a master's degree in public administration from the University of Victoria and was named the 2001 YM/YWCA Woman of Distinction in the communications and public relations category.
Cheperdak notes that Jasechko’s appointment coincides with a time of transition for the society:
“Broadmead Care has developed an organizational growth strategy to better serve our community’s veterans, seniors, and adults with physical disabilities. Jennifer will be a key liaison with the community to help us realize those plans and we are delighted she has joined our senior management team.”
Broadmead Care provides day programs and residential care for more than 225 veterans and seniors at the Lodge at Broadmead and 160 veterans at the Veterans Health Centre. In December 2010, the society brought the Nigel Program for Adults with Physical Disabilities under its governance and now also provides residential care for 40 adults at Nigel and Harriet House.
