A Date to 'Watch'
By Brian Hartz | Jan 14, 2011
The March/April 2011 issue of Douglas is just around the corner, and that means we’ll be honouring this year’s 10 to Watch winners. They’ll be featured in the pages of Douglas and at an invitation-only mixer on Tuesday, March 1, so save the date for this celebration of successful new businesses in Greater Victoria.
Sponsored by Campus Auto Group, TD Canada Trust, /A\, Skanda, Telus, Think Communications, CMA, and McConnan, Bion, O’Connor, and Peterson, the third annual 10 to Watch will once again recognize the strengths and contributions to the community made by creative and hardworking entrepreneurs. The event is not only a much-anticipated and very well-attended business event that spotlights the winners, it also provides an unparalleled PR opportunity — exactly what young businesses need to form solid connections within the business community.
2009 was the first year for 10 to Watch, and 45 entries were received. It’s no easy task narrowing down a field of so many worthy businesses, but our panel of judges — made up of qualified experts from Victoria’s business community — is once again up to the challenge. The panel has included business experts such as Deirdre Campbell, president of Tartan Group PR; John Juricic, partner at Etraffic Solutions; Rebecca Grant, associate professor faculty of business at the University of Victoria; Daniela Cubelic, co-owner of Silk Road Tea; and Mike Thompson, associate vice-president of business development, Royal Roads University.
