Using business diagnostics for non-profit orgs? 12 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Mike,
I'm working with a lot of non-profits who are having a tough time these days recruiting funds from private donation sources. What are some of the key concepts in business diagnostics that these organisations can leverage to develop important programs and keep them running?

Hi Sharon,

Many thanks for the question – as you know our Business Diagnostics book has an eight grid model where an organization can ‘size up’ their present operations.

The Key components are:

The External Size Up – a review of the external business environment and industry conditions

The Internal Size Up – assessing the strengths and weaknesses in key functional areas like finance, marketing, HR, operations and technology applications.

The Strategic Size Up – where the best strategic pathway is assessed and mapped out.

The above approach can also be easily modified for your Non Profit clients and should be encompassed into a brief, maximum five page document or table that can then be presented to the funding entity.

I am also referring you to our Business Diagnostics blog – Business Insight section where we have completed a brief slide presentation on crafting effective business plans – many concepts there will assist you in developing an effective positioning with your target donors.

Hope this helps!
