Hike for Hospice

The first annual Hike for Hospice is set to go this Sunday, May 6. Join the crowd walking, dancing, and shuffling along the Westsong Walkway from the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa to Barnard Park and back in this inaugural “fun” raising event.
 
The fun starts at 9 a.m. with a hearty breakfast, then hikers of all ages and abilities, families and corporate teams, will begin their trek. Individuals and teams have been collecting pledges. Be sure to catch the colourful “Parade of Teams” at 10 a.m.
 
Even if you’re not into trekking, come out and cheer on the hikers. There will be lots of activities, including a bouncy castle for kids, face painting, carnival games, a craft table, flower display demo, and more.
 
“This is a wonderful opportunity to walk in memory or honour of a loved one. As well, it is a chance to be an active part of your community, all while acknowledging the phenomenal care provided by Hospice volunteers and professionals,” says Victoria Hospice corporate and community relations officer Tamara Dean.
 
“All the funds raised through Hike for Hospice will help provide ongoing financial support to our core services and programs,” she said.
 
About half of Victoria Hospice’s operating costs are not covered by our health-care system and are funded by community donations.
