(News Release) VICTORIA – For The First Time Whitehall Rowing Boats Part Of Victoria Classic Boat Festival - September 3, 4 & 5.
Several thousand Whitehall Spirit boats are rowed all over the world, but until this weekend, they didn’t dip an oar as part of the annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival. Now organizers have recognized the workmanship of the world-renowned local manufacturer and welcomed them aboard September 3 to 5 at the inner harbour docks for the first time. To celebrate, also for the first time, Whitehall owners Marie Hutchinson and Harold Aune are cutting prices on their impeccable showroom display models. These boats are perfect examples of why they are so popular in such far-flung places as New York, Milan and Bordeaux.
Said Ms. Hutchinson “Most classic boats are made of wood. We also build our classics the old-fashioned way - by hand, but with the durability of a fiberglass hull topped off with the functional elegance of solid teak seats, floors, and gunnels with cast bronze detailing.” She continued “Most wooden boat builders admit that Whitehall’s rowing boats are comparable to wooden boats. They are true to the original 200 year old Whitehall lines combined with exquisite yacht quality woodwork.”
They will also display their new line of high tech rowing boats and be offering rides in their Whitehall Spirit Rowing Club boats. The rowing club is Marie and Harold’s latest way for the general public to discover slide seat rowing that’s affordable, while getting fit and having fun on the water. Come and join the fun!
