(News Release) VICTORIA – Vancouver Island Brewery took home some prominent awards at the 2012 British Columbia Beer Awards.
- GOLD: Hermannator Ice Bock – Strong Beer
- SILVER: Hermann’s Dark Lager – Specialty Lager
- SILVER: Sea Dog Amber Ale – Session Ale
- BRONZE: Iron Plow Harvest Märzen – Specialty Lager
“Our hats go off to Ralf Pittroff and our Brew Crew for consistently producing award winning beers. We are very proud of this achievement and are thankful for the recognition among a strong BC craft brewing industry,” said Jim Dodds, General Manager for Vancouver Island Brewery. “We set out to craft amazing beers and are happy to see that others are as fond of them as we are.”
The awards were split into 14 beer style categories, compiled from almost 250 entries, following a whole day of blind tasting by expert judges at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.
Combine these awards with the four wins at the Canadian Brewing Awards earlier this year and Vancouver Island Brewery continues to showcase its quality as a craft brewer.
“As the popularity in craft beer rises so does the variety and quality of locally brewed beer. It’s great to have our beer recognized by beer experts and beer drinkers alike,” said Ralf Pittroff, Brewmaster for Vancouver Island Brewery.
