Tourism Vancouver Island Announces Board of Directors

(News Release) VICTORIA – After a successful Annual Conference and AGM in beautiful Sooke, Tourism Vancouver Island announces the election results for their Board of Directors.
“I would like to thank the Directors of Tourism Vancouver Island for their willingness to stand for election/appointment and volunteer their time to help move the strategic direction and governance of the organization positively forward,” says Carol Ann Terreberry, Chair of Tourism Vancouver Island.
Joining as a new member of the board, Alan McGillivray was appointed for a one-year term as the South Island representative. Alan is the owner and founder of Inter Island Launch Ltd., serving the Gulf Islands as a water taxi service, and is the owner and founder of Prince of Whales Whale Watching.
Geoff Millar was appointed for a one-year term to fill the South Central/Cowichan vacancy following resignation of Jason Lowe. Geoff is the Economic Development Manager for the Cowichan Valley Regional District managing the economic development, tourism marketing and film attraction services for the regional district.
Jim Owens was re-elected by acclamation as the Central Island representative. Jim is the Director of Sales at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort and Conference Centre in Parksville.
Duane Bell was re-elected by acclamation as the Pacific Rim representative. Duane is the General Manager of Middle Beach Lodge in Tofino, part of Le Fevre & Company.
Conny Nordin returns for the second year of her term as the Gulf Islands representative. Conny, along with her husband Mel Gibb, own and operate the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa on Galiano Island.
Michael O’Hara returns for the second year of his term as the North Central representative. Michael moved to Vancouver Island in 1996 and is the Operations Manager for April Point Resort and Spa.
Lillian Hunt was re-elected by acclamation as the North Island representative. Lillian is the Cultural Tourism Guide and Coordinator for the U’mista Cultural Society in Alert Bay.
Chuck Fast continues as Past Chair of the Board. Prior to entering the consulting field in 2009, Chuck was the CEO of the Comox Valley Airport Commission.
Carol Ann Terreberry returns for the second year of her appointment and was re-elected as Chair of the Board. Carol Ann is the General Manager and accountant for Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge on Quadra Island.
Stephen Peters returns for a two-year appointment and was elected as Vice Chair (Chair Elect) of the Board. Stephen immigrated to Canada from the UK in 1974, and is General Manager of Pacific Sands Beach Resort in Tofino.
Ian MacPhee continues as the appointed director for Tourism Victoria. Ian and his partner own and operate Abbeymoore Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn in Victoria’s historic Rockland District.
Joining as a newly appointed member of the board is Jenn Bogwald, partner and business advisor working out of MNP’s Nanaimo office. She assists owner-managed businesses from a broad range of industries, including auto dealers; construction-related organizations; and resorts and other tourism-related operations.
The Officers consists of: Carol Ann Terreberry, Chair; Stephen Peters, Vice Chair (Chair Elect); Geoff Millar, Governance Chair; Jim Owens, Marketing Chair; and Jenn Bogwald as Secretary-Treasurer.
