NEDC Names Sasha Angus New CEO

(News Release) NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Sasha Angus as Chief Executive Officer. Angus will start his new position on September 4th.

“Sasha brings more than five years economic development experience on the island,” says AJ Hustins, NEDC Board Chair. “We are pleased such a strong candidate has chosen to join NEDC."

An extensive search using an outside recruiting firm was conducted. Sasha Angus stood out as an exceptional candidate with extensive economic development experience on Vancouver Island.

Angus has spent the last five years in a business development role at the Greater Victoria Development Agency (GVDA). During his time with the GVDA, Angus hosted more than 100 trade delegations, wrote and executed an economic development strategy, and produced meaningful results for Victoria.

“We believe Sasha will hit the ground running and will be a real difference-maker for our region,” says Hustins.

“I am excited by the opportunity with NEDC,” says Angus. “I have had a great five years in economic development for Victoria and look forward to working with the Board as well as local businesses to attract jobs and investment to the mid-Island.”

Angus, a native of Edmonton with strong family ties to the Island, attended school in Victoria and worked for the Alberta government before joining GVDA in 2007. Sasha’s wife and young son will join him in Nanaimo.

The Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation is charged with marketing Nanaimo as a the place to visit, invest and do business.
